The Maine Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (OPHEP) is the lead state agency responsible for the planning, coordination, and response to bioterrorism and other public health emergencies.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will provide programmatic oversight to public health preparedness and response activities for the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness in the Maine CDC, Division of Public Health Systems.  Responsibilities include serving as a public health liaison to other states, regional and federal agencies, local communities, and health care systems; to strengthen the ability of health agencies and partner organizations to detect, contain and manage public health threats and emergencies.  Priorities include project design, planning, implementation and programmatic capacity building across the Maine CDC, and coordination with multiple partners in Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services and Healthcare.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

In order to qualify, you must have a ten (10) year combination of education, training and experience comprised of a Masters Degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, or a related field; and four years experience in public health and emergency preparedness to include a minimum of two years of related administrative and managerial experience.  Directly related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Necessary Requirement:  Candidates must have knowledge or prior experience in public health preparedness and public health planning, program development, and coordination.

Hospice of Southern Maine Seeks Nurse Practitioner
Hospice of Southern Maine, formed in 2003 and located in Scarborough, Maine, is a nonprofit fully integrated, community based hospice provider with the single purpose of providing and improving end-of-life care. Hospice of Southern Maine delivers their care through their home hospice program and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, an 18-bed inpatient hospice facility. Services include physician and nursing care to maximize comfort and minimize pain, medication management for pain and symptom control, medical equipment and supplies, home health aides to assist with personal care needs, volunteer non medical aid and support to give comfort and assistance, social work, counseling, pastoral care, specific treatments and therapies as needed, and bereavement services.

Hospice of Southern Maine seeks a qualified Nurse Practitioner to work in a collaborative model with hospice physicians, ensuring a team approach that will maximize quality medical care of hospice patients. This individual will work primarily in the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing acute pain and symptom management, and patient and family support, and may also provide occasional home visits and/or evaluations.

Qualified applicants will have three or more years of experience working in an inpatient or nursing facility, internal medicine or family practice environment, and will be currently licensed in the State of Maine to practice as a Nurse Practitioner. In addition, current certification through the ANCC or AANP, proof of schedule II prescriptive authority, a valid driver's license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or agency requirements and is in good working order are required.

This is an Exempt position, normally scheduled Monday through Friday, 5-6 hours per day.
