Western Maine Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) – School Based Health Centers in Norway. This position is 32 hours per week for 42 weeks beginning two weeks before the start of the MSAD 17 academic year, during the academic year when school is in session and two weeks after completion of the academic year.

Compensation will be paid over 26 pay periods at 25.50 hours per week. Experience is preferred. NP will work along with the MSAD 17 high school and middle school nurses and providers from Western Maine Health to provide health care services to adolescents.
 
The Nurse Practitioner will provide only those health care services for which the practitioner is educationally and clinically prepared, and for which competency has been maintained. Such health care services, for which the practitioner is independently responsible and accountable, include:

Responsibilities include: assessing and treating acute minor illnesses and injuries; Well Child Checks; evaluating and treating sports injuries; diagnosing and managing concussions through Return to Learn and Return to Activity/Play; diagnosing, working with counselors, and treating simple mental illnesses; and, doing basic procedures. S/he provides education on a variety of health-related issues focusing on preventive care, anticipatory guidance, risk assessment, and teaching healthy lifestyles.
 
The Nurse Practitioner prescribes medications per Board of Nursing and DEA. This position works within the Scope of Practice at all times and follows the Hospital policies and procedures as well as Medical Staff By-Laws and Rules and Regulations.
 
Additional responsibilities include supervising a part-time administrative assistant and LCSW/LCPC; co-managing the SBHC budget; and assisting the school district with creation of policies, procedures and standards of care.
 
Qualifications:
·    Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner (NP) training program; currently approved by the Maine Board of Nursing to practice in the advanced practice role.
